It was night, or at least that's what the ship called it, and lights were dimmed during this time to give a night-like feel. Many crew members were asleep, with some crew awake to take care of the ship. However, the mess hall was empty. The chef was asleep, the primary shifts during meal times, and the replicator for the rest of the time. A perfect place for Jimmy-boy to do some practicing outside of his quarters. So that's where he was. The mess hall. The place where he felt like he belonged most. Not his quarters, they were too small and made him feel too trapped. But the mess hall was a place of gathering, where friends would talk and have fun. A place built for being friendly and having fun. Such a place was home to Jim. He had no home he knew about, other than that rogue planet, where he was so scared all the time.
When his mind turned towards his life before the planet all he could remember was being happy. He couldn't remember anything else, and even that could have been just his imagination and his want for his home before to have been a happy place. And with the changes he was going through now, he wanted guidance from those who raised him, if they knew what was happening to him. Why he could teleport, travel in time, move things, despite his complete lack of control of these powers? Luckily, he managed to keep these changes a secret from almost everyone, besides the previous captain, whom he respected, and had been caught while practicing.
Jim replicated a cup of coffee, and sat at a table. He set the cup in front of him and closed his eyes, trying to lift the cup with his mind. He managed to do so the other day when he was serving a table and otherwise would have dropped the cup all over the floor, instead it floated above his serving tray and sat quickly once it would not fall. No one really would have noticed it, unless they were watching him, because it happened in a blink of an eye. James opened his eyes, but the cup was right where it was before. He bit his lip in frustration before he closed his eyes tightly and focus again. Nothing happened.
